I am careful about calling myself a writer much less a playwright. These people are my heroes - Parks, Williams, Ionesco, Wilson, Nottage, Shanley, Strindberg, Kushner, Durang, etc. These people are gods.

I wrote several short plays 30+ years ago with a small bit of success. Then, for thirty years, I was surrounded by wildly creative teenagers and I learned a lot about life and creating art. Now, I am using all that knowledge from my students to write what I never could before.
